Suggestions & ideas for the club

Got a suggestion for a rally activity, a fundraiser idea, or a way we could do things better? We'd love to hear it.

Do we need our own pony?

For ridden events, yes — you'll need your own pony or horse, plus a helmet and boots. Our horse-management sessions don't need a horse, so they're a great way to start learning.

What age can my child join?

We welcome young riders once they can safely ride at walk and trot — get in touch to chat.

When are rallies held?

On scheduled Sundays through the season — see the calendar for dates.

What gear do we need?

For ridden events: your pony or horse, a tagged approved helmet and riding boots. See what to bring.

How do I get my helmet checked & tagged?

Check Farm Supplies Whanganui — helmet tagging is available there year-round. See health & safety.

Can parents help out?

Yes please! The club runs on volunteers — grab a slot on the roster.

Can beginners join?

Absolutely. We coach all levels, from first-time riders to advanced, in skill-based groups.

What happens at rallies?

Gear check, a mounted lesson, horse management and theory. See the full rally information.

What if I miss rallies?

No problem occasionally — just let your coach know. Regular attendance does help progress and team selection.
