Certificates & testing

A clear pathway from first rally to A Certificate.

NZPCA certificates recognise both riding and horse-care knowledge. Riders progress at their own pace, supported by our coaches and testing days.

🆕
NZPCA update

An updated A & H Syllabus is launching at the NZPCA AGM Conference — July 2026. The new pathway introduces updated syllabuses, modernised learning resources, stronger horse welfare content and clearer progression pathways. See the visual map below and talk to your coach for details.

How testing works

  1. Talk with your coach about the right certificate to aim for.
  2. Prepare through regular rallies and home practice.
  3. Register for a club or regional testing day.
  4. Sit the riding and horse-care components with an examiner.
  5. Receive your certificate and set your next goal.

Further information

The full syllabus, certificate cards and examiner guides are published by NZPCA.
